Academic Divisions: Adolescent Medicine
Overview
Patients are seen by referral only. We work closely with the primary care physician as well as other subspecialty pediatricians when required. Adolescents must be referred with a specific condition, such as the following:
- Female gynecologic evaluation an treatment for:
- Sexually transmitted infections (STIs)
- Polycystic ovarian syndrome
- Menstrual abnormalities
- Reproductive counseling
- Contraceptive initiation
- Male STIs and genitourinary problems
- Nutritional concerns
- Evaluation of weight loss
- Acne
- Chronic fatigue
- Female athlete triad
- no or irregular period
- osteopenia
- disordered eating
- Reflex sympathetic dystrophy
- Depression, anxiety and substance abuse
Educational Activities
The Division will provide Pediatric Lectures, mentorship for the pediatric residents, and clinical instruction for rotations of residents and 3rd year medical students
