Pediatric Residency Program
Welcome to The Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters' (CHKD) Residency Program. The CHKD Pediatric Residency, part of Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS), is a comprehensive residency offering superlative training that enables our residents to pursue careers in all aspects of pediatrics. All residents have tremendous access to our excellent medical and surgical faculty in clinical environments ranging from outpatient clinics to intensive care. Our residents finish the program and continue on to successful futures in primary care, fellowship training, public health, international medicine and many other arenas.
We are very excited about a new curriculum developed by our faculty to provide a Pediatric Public Health Certificate for every resident. This new curriculum emphasizes community-based interventions to improve the health of children and to provide residents with the skills, knowledge, and experience to deliver community-based primary health care to medically underserved patients. Residents gain an understanding of how policy influences health, so that they can be advocates for their patients.
We feel strongly that every CHKD resident should complete the program knowing they have gained the skills necessary to practice medicine on a superior level. In addition, we want each resident to feel as if their time at CHKD was not only enriching on a professional level, but also to their personal growth and development.
Please explore our website and let us know if you have any questions about our program. We encourage your interest and look forward to hearing from you.
