Pediatric Residency Program
The Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters' (CHKD) Residency Program is part of the Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS). The residency program provides each resident with the opportunity to work with excellent faculty and residents from across the country. You will rotate through all areas of the hospital - from primary care to quaternary care - and care for a variety of patients from different ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds.
We are very excited about a new curriculum developed by our faculty to provide a Pediatric Public Health Certificate for every resident. This new curriculum emphasizes community-based interventions to improve the health of children and to provide residents with the skills, knowledge, and experience to deliver community-based primary health care to medically underserved patients. Residents gain an understanding of how policy influences health, so that they can be advocates for their patients.
Following completion of residency, our residents enter outstanding fellowships and primary care positions throughout the country. We look forward to answering your questions, showing you our program, and making your training one of the best experiences of your professional career.
