Residency: Public Health Certificate Program
The purpose of the public health project is to develop a curriculum for pediatric residents at Eastern Virginia Medical School leading to a Pediatric Public Health (PPH) Certificate emphasizing community-based interventions to improve the health of children and to provide residents with the skills, knowledge, and experience to deliver community-based primary health care to medically underserved patients. Residents will gain an understanding of how policy influences health, so that they can be advocates for their patients.
The first three (3) courses presented during the first academic year were:
- A Practical Approach to Pediatric Public Health: The Basic Principles
- Clinical application of Pediatric Public Health Policy and Economics
- Health Disparities and Inequity
