Residency: Nursery Rotations

Nursery Experience

Directly adjacent to CHKD is Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where our residents rotate through the newborn nursery and the special care (level 2) nursery. Ranked among the top 50 Hospitals in the 2011 US News and World Reports, Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is the primary hospital for Norfolk's Maternal Fetal Medicine Practice and is located on the same campus as the Jones Institute for Reproductive Medicine, the nation's pioneering institution of In Vitro Fertilization.

During their months in the level one and two nurseries, residents attend high risk deliveries, support mothers and their new infants, and participate in a number of procedures as they learn the exciting aspects of care of the newborn and preterm infant.
